"Sometimes we love monsters without knowing that's what they are."
I went into this one completely blind and was very surprised with the outcome! I listened to the audiobook and wished I had the hard copy to easily go through the previous pages I'd read. Nevertheless, great audiobook and narration!
Feeney's storytelling in this one is top notch. I was able to easily imagine the stormy, isolated house on the tiny island, the way the rooms looked, I could feel the vibes and atmosphere in Nana's house. The poems were a great touch which made the story even more intriguing.
I didn't see the ending coming, though while I thought it was bold move, I ended up not fully loving it due to having read two books in the last month that had a similar plot twist.
"..but we are all just children masquerading as the adults we thought we should become."
