Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Maybe love shouldn’t be built on a foundation of compromises, but
maybe it can’t exist without them either.

This is my first contemporary romance from an author I've heard great things about, and now I see why.

I enjoyed how Nora felt very fleshed out and how she is a character I don't usually expect in this genre: career-oriented and logical. In fact, I mainly enjoyed this book for the great character development she goes through, rather than her romance with Charlie. The conflicts were very well-written and didn't feel forced or out of character. Everything fell into place, and I could understand how each situation impacted Nora to grow. In fact, I expected some kind of misunderstanding conflict like many similar stories, but I enjoyed how the story subverted that.

I never felt very invested or connected to Sunshine Falls, but maybe that's just the city girl in me. All in all, a great introduction to Emily Henry's novels.
