This was.... problematic.

Okay so the story was good (not great but I enjoyed it) and the style was interesting enough to keep me reading till the end. BUT there was a lot of problematic scenes and subplots that are the reason that I haven't given this four or five stars. They was it was completely brushed off that there was a topless photo of her shared around school, that's shes told that Max 'knows she wants it' and she frequently writes that he overpowers her so she just goes along with it. I don't know about you but all of this seems to be complying to rape culture? And before you tell me that I'm being oversensitive and that not everything can be politically correct a young (14/15) year old girl so literally told that she 'knows she wants it' while obviously wanting to be anywhere else, being uncomfortable and wanting to get away. I don't care that he was drunk at the time the line simply should not have been written. You can say all you want but this.is.problematic.

Other than that it was interesting story with a fun style, the way that she was writing to a figure that is never met made the book feel more personal, almost like she was talking to you. There are some subplots that I found more interesting than the main story, such as Dot, but overall an average read.
