Добыча. Всемирная история борьбы за нефть, деньги и власть by Daniel Yergin, Дэниел Ергин

5.0

An exhaustive - and sometimes exhausting - saga of oil. Yergin broadly sweeps oil's central involvement in just about every major event in 20th century history, but takes plenty of amusing detours through personal intrigues and gossip. It would appear that much of oil's history has been dominated by accidents tragic and fortuitous, tsunamis of rabid greed, and personalities mercurial and/or revolting.

I took over three lazy years to finally finish this brick, still just as ignorant about the chemistry of oil but much more informed of the geopolitical drama behind it.
