This Is a Call: The Life and Times of Dave Grohl
by Paul Brannigan
There is much I enjoyed about this book It has certainly made me go back and revisit older records by the Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Nirvana. As well as inspiring me to go look-up so new old bands that I have missed. But do I know any more about the "real" Dave Grohl, who he is and what he thinks, what he felt and thought when he was fourteen, mum working late while he was going to punk rock gigs? No. (I don't even know if he went to those gigs with his mum's blessing, or whether he snuck out). A good book, an easy read, but probably no more insightful than any other biography until Mr D. Grohl decides to pen his own.
