A really easy fun read that has me hungering for more from this world! I loved the take on what happens after the chosen kids get back from the magical worlds they go on adventures to. I liked the fast pace of the book, with a big cast of characters that drew me in.

Wheelhouse items: magical school, murder mystery, outcasts, mad scientists, intriguing worldbuilding.

Content warning details:
As a result of travelling to the magical world, the main protagonist doesn't eat much food and displays disordered eating habits, but because of the magical alterations this is "fine" for her. That depiction didn't really sit right with me.
Another character is a transboy, who was rejected from the fairy realm when they realised he was a boy (because they're transphobic fairies apparently). One of the school kids is transphobic to him to his face, but everyone else supports him. He briefly refers to his deadname.
There are a bunch of murders at the school which includes body mutilation, not very graphic but still described in detail.
