Secret of the Time Tablets by Mike Maihack, Cassandra Pelham

4.0

Secret of the Time Tablets wraps up a bunch of plotlines but also leaves openings for Maihack's next trilogy. All the setup from the second book pays off here, and it finally seems like Cleopatra actually NEEDS to be Cleopatra for the story: in the first book, it felt like she could be anyone, like Maihack spun an Interesting Famous People Wheel and landed on Cleopatra, but now that identity is more integral to the story.

The plots and characters still seem too familiar for me -- I can't figure out if the Han Solo clone is a wink or an oversight -- but it's a cute read and all the plots move at a nice pace in this installment.
