God (no pun intended), this book had the Catholic in me positively ENTHRALLED the whole dang time and then they had to go and ruin it in the end. I audibly said "what the f*ck" out loud in my car, because it genuinely ruined the whole book for me. I didn't want some big plot twist ending I just wanted a regular finish. But, 4.5 stars for having me anxiously wanting to read more. I loved how it both exposed the problems within the Church and called out poor behavior but also didn't villainize it, because there are people who genuinely want to do good and make it more inclusive. It was really interesting also learning about the process of selecting a new Pope and felt really well researched.
