Standalone crime thriller read by Joanne Froggatt and Matthew Horne. The majority is read by Froggatt I really enjoy listening to her voice, it’s very distinctive. She did great female voices which were different for each of the main characters. Her male voices however weren’t as good. But I still thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook.
What I loved about it is the three main characters investigating a historical crime which occurred 25 years previously are the ex detective who was in charge of the original case, a biographer of the convicted ki11er and the mother of a still missing child. They work closely with the police rather than it being a police procedural which is the reason that I think it resonated so much with me.
This is dark but without being overtly gritty or graphic. Its topic will be a trigger for some. I loved it, there’s such a high body count that there are always frequent reveals and the pace is kept rattling along.
I found it very entertaining, and would highly recommend listening.
