A great listen with a fantastic ending! However, the style of delivery has changed on the authors part, and it took me the first third of the book to gel with it. There’s a lot of dramatic irony leveraged to increase tension and drama, but it fell somewhat flat. Ultimately, it left the narrative feeling disjointed and overly complicated compared to earlier entries in the series.
Also, there’s a lot of references to ancillary material, such as the graphic novels and short stories, that felt wedged in with a winking, ‘aren’t I smart’, air that rubbed me the wrong way and took me out of the story.
