“This is how colonialism works. It convinces us that the fallout from resistance is entirely our fault, that the immoral choice is resistance itself rather than the circumstances that demanded it.”

RF Kuang totally can write. i mean, what was this book, oh my god? how does she keeps on giving absolute bangers? i am so much in love even though the last few chapters wholly shattered my heart.

from the very first line, Babel had me on a chokehold. i think one of my favourite parts of this book was that Kuang was able to portray both dark academia as well as colonialism together? history isn't mea t to be comfortable. and this book is a prime example of how uncomfortable and ugly history is.

Robin, Ramy and Victoire, i can never ever forget about you. they're engraved in my heart, especially Ramy. the way Kuang gave us perfect muslim representation, i am in shambles. Letty, i hope you rot in hell. this book reminded me again why i hate white people so much.

by the end of the last few chapters, i was shaking. the sorrow was too much. i wish i could read this book again for the first time.

never never going to stop recommending this book.
