Southern Lady Code: Essays by Helen Ellis
5.0
If Designing Women's Julia and Suzanne Sugarbaker wrote a collection of essays, it might be this book. I adored it. Ellis is, by turns, poignant and funny. She belongs solidly in the category of memoirists like Kelly Corrigan and Mary Laura Philpott, but I appreciate that, unlike those terrific writers, Ellis' writing is focused on womanhood without the underlying focus on motherhood. I listened to this book on audio, and I highly recommend the audio version. I loved it enough that I plan to buy a physical copy as well.
