The Neighbor's Secret by L. Alison Heller

4.0

Maybe 3.5 stars. Interesting premise. I found this to be readable and a real page turner, but... The characters, and there are many, are unlikable and one-dimensional caricatures and I felt more like an observer than invested in their lives. The story, and actually there were several stories going on at once, was disjointed, moving back and forth from present to tidbits of the past, and for much of the book I was confused by what was going on and why it mattered. The book needed to be tightened up and better edited. That said, Heller nailed the book club scenes, and if you've been in a book club you'll relate.
