The Method by Shannon Kirk

I liked many aspects of this. It was different from any other story of its kind that I have read, and I highly enjoyed reading from the main character's perspective. I like the way it framed itself as a selection of coincidences that came together to become something entirely unbelievable, yet believable at the same time. I liked all of the characters we were supposed to like, and disliked all of the characters we weren't.

Sometimes though, I felt things were padded out for the sake of adding suspense. Sometimes this is okay, if something is added to the story because of it, but every now and then with this book it descended into rambling about something entirely unimportant and I found myself skim reading.

There were a few good twists and turns throughout. I didn't really see any of them coming, though one or two were slightly clichéd. One thing in particular happened that made me go, "Really?!" because of it just being put in to move the plot forward.

I kind of feel that once I had suspended disbelief on a few things (such as the way every single character seemed to have some sort of extraordinary ability/talent... though these were explained relatively well), I found myself thoroughly enjoying the journey. I just kind of feel that I shouldn't have to suspend disbelief. Either way, it was memorable and I loved the unusual take on your classic thriller.

Also, there are a few really gross bits, just so you are aware.
