I really liked this book. If you ignore some issues that I assume were translation problems then it's a really great book. It does end very abruptly though. I have all three books so it wasn't as big of a deal but if I were reading this and didn't have the other books I would be upset. The ending is totally random. Also, the mummies are not really mummies, they are really zombies but that's a technicality I guess. I like the characters thus far and love the idea of the stone lions. He actually does a pretty good job of bring many different cultures and myths together when it seems like they should clash and never mix. The titles of the books are a little off as well because thus far the Water Mirror hasn't played a huge role in the book. I like it over all though. I LOVE LOVE some of the characters and ideas being discussed.


OH! P.S.
It has an interesting look at religion. It's just skimming concepts of religion so far but I have high hopes for a better exploration in the next two books.
