All the Dead Shall Weep by Charlaine Harris
3.0

I was really looking forward to seeing what happened next in this series, but I definitely did not expect the direction it takes at all. A couple of things stop me giving it more stars, but mainly it's because it's too far fetched given the amount of fantasy in the series so far. It's almost as if the writer thought the series was lacking in some way and decided to eke it out by introducing several new fantasy elements. What I did not find convincing was Eli's behaviour, it was just too much out of character and done to force the plot. In fact, the plot felt forced several times. Plus it was lacking in the previous richness of well written characters and too reliant on Lisbeth and Felicia and insignificant minor characters. There is a lot of sadness in this book and I found a tear rolling down my cheek several times. The loss of one character feels like another way to force the plot down a different route and it did not sit right with me at all. I think the best way to describe this book is uneven and I can accept it as a stepping stone to changing the direction of the story, but the series needs to get back on track if I am to stick with it.
