darkenergy 's review for:
A Brief History of Time
by Stephen Hawking
4.5 stars
Easy read that isn't condescending. Of course with recent advances it is a bit out of date, so should be supplemented by a walk through the Nature news archives, which aren't paywalled.
The thing I really liked, aside from the fact that I did learn things my physics classes never got into, is that Hawking went out of his way to credit everyone involved in a major achievement, even when they were passed over for the Nobel. Frankly, the target audience for this book - non-majors/professionals like myself - wouldn't have known better if he'd just made it sound as if all these facts turned up like the birth of Venus.
I didn't find the bits mentioning "God" as valuable, but they don't take up much room, and also I was raised polytheist and don't relate.
