Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope

"Of the faults which a man commits, he must bear the punishment."

I enjoyed this installment in the Barsetshire series, but not quite as much as either Barchester Towers or Doctor Thorne. It didn't have quite as much of the witty humor that I enjoy in those nor as many likable, or unlikable, characters.

At times it suffered from too many story threads. Though I liked seeing some of the old characters and learning what was happening to them, it detracted somewhat from the newer additions.

I was not a fan of Mark, though he wasn't unlikable enough to give me many emotions either way. He was annoying and made stupid mistakes, but he wasn't bad. I did enjoy fanny a lot.

Lucy was the best of the characters here. I liked her strength and how she wasn't willing to back down. She also wasn't willing to wallow in self pity when she was hurting, but would rather laugh at herself and keep on living as best as she could. I would have liked more from her perspective.

Overall an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to continuing with the series.
