Preppy: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part Two by T.M. Frazier

5.0

When I reviewed Preppy 1 with 5 stars, I said a thank you to TM Frazier for writing a book perfectly suited to my sensibilities, that I would not now have to write.
That was in 2019.
Why did I wait so long to read this one? Well, I did want to savor it. That's true. But moreso, I was afraid that Frazier's vision for her characters might not gel with me this time. And I'm happy to report that once again, she blew me away.
I'm always impressed at her pacing, but in a story like this one with a lot of moving parts - including several characters whose stories have been told but are moving forward together in real time - it's even harder to pull off. She does it. A couple of times I actually yelled my surprise out loud.
And it's just as daring as the first. Some of this isn't your average erotic romance. It's gritty and dirty and these people are very much flawed, and do many illegal and some might say immoral things. It works for me. This series inspires my sense that what I like is appreciated by others, too.
