I really wanted to love The Vampire and Witches Fate — especially after how much I adored the first book. Unfortunately, this final installment was a struggle to get through.

The writing style felt less like a romantasy and more like a dense conspiracy theory textbook. It was extremely hard to understand, repetitive (if I never see the word “repatriation” again, it’ll be too soon), and desperately in need of editing to make it approachable and engaging.

The magic of the original setting — the mysterious mansion, the charming town of Salem — seemed to vanish completely. The characters, once so loveable and vivid, lost their spark. Even Charlotte and Adrian, whose chemistry was electric in book one, now read like the cringy leads of a bad 80s movie. I found myself confused by major plot points (why are the basement shadows suddenly besties?) and honestly, I had to force myself to finish. Between chapters 2 and 11, I slept better than I have in months — and that’s saying a lot for someone who needs prescription sleep meds.

I’m sad this series ended on such a low note because it had so much potential. If you loved Vampire at Blackthorn Manor like I did, maybe stop there and preserve the magic.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
