Something Like Hate
by Harloe Rae
This is my first read my Harloe Rae, when I first started reading this novel I couldn't really concentrate (I think I wasn't in the right mind set at the time). So I decided to pick up another read by coming back to this book later on. And I'm glad that I did, because boy oh boy! The storyline and characters are amazing!! Something Like Hate is a standalone, enemies to lovers, office and billionaire romance. When Vannah (heroine) and Landon (hero) first meet they most certainly get off on the wrong foot. I lived for their "not so friendly" banter! Oh my goodness! There were some scenes where I would laugh out loud!! Vannah and Landon happen to be each others' match most certainly. Two head strong personalities, who constantly clash. They fight like cats and dogs. But there's a ever so present s*xual tension, the chemistry between them is heated and dormant, waiting to erupt. They may not like to admit it, but they both like to play these little games; they immensely enjoy challenging each other. After all, there's a very fine line between love and hate.
Vannah is a go getter; she dosen't shy away from challenges. She's confident and lives unapologetically. Vannah Simons is successful in her line of work, nothing fazes her or deters her from getting the job done. But her newest assignment isn't going to be an easy task. Vannah hates to admit it, but her client Landon Winter easily gets under her skin. Successful billionaire tycoon Landon Winter strives for success. He doesn't crack under pressure; he is in control of every situation. He keeps his emotions in check. But there is one person who is able to keep him on edge; who can break down his defences, Vannah.
When it comes to the matters of the heart, Landon avoids them like the black plague. He has a cynical view towards marriage. Vannah is completely opposite, she's a firm believer of a HEA by finding her soulmate. Vannah is on a mission, she's going to peel off Landon's facade; to understand him and what makes him tick. I love Vannah's character! She's definitely a strong female leading character. Whatever Landon throws her way, she has somehow managed to turn the tables against him. They fought tooth and nail, trying to beat and out smart each other. Seeing who would wave the white flag and surrender first. But nethier of them were willing to yield to each other. I really enjoyed seeing Landon's character developing throughout the book. Vannah brings out his best side which he didn't believe it would ever happen. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this one! Harloe Rae did an amazing job in executing this plot. Its definitely a character driven book. I'm looking forward to reading more of Harloe Rae's books.
