Home Sweet Christmas by Susan Mallery
4.0

I absolutely loved Wishing Tree when we first visited back in the Christmas Wedding Guest so was excited to be going back and spending time at The Wreath. I absolutely love how the Americans celebrate Christmas, it just keeps all the magic alive and seems to focus on community, family and friends. Plus they go massive with lights, decorations and festive activities - I mean a giant advent calendar full of activities for the town to participate in?! I’d love that!

Anyway, onto the book itself! In this we are split between Camryn and River who have both recently moved into Wishing Tree, both definitely NOT looking for a man though…

Camryn has come back after her mum fell I’ll and then sadly die to look after her younger twin sisters and take over the running of Wrap Around the Clock - yupp, you guessed it, a shop based on wrapping paper for every occasion and even wrapping parties! She will be going back to Chicago once the twins have gone to college though so is adamant that there’s no point in finding a man - that’ll come when she gets back to her old life…

River is a super shy computer geek so it’s not necessarily that she doesn’t want a man but she has major trust issues and also feels very awkward in ‘dating’ situations or when she’s the centre of attention.

The male interests in the book are Jake, who we have heard of before, and Dylan. Jake is the guy who left Reggie a couple of days after their engagement so first opinions are very sceptical but we get to know the real reasons behind this and I actually really liked Jake by the end of the book. He is such a kind hearted and good man who made a mistake because of self doubt, his friendship with Dylan is also extremely strong and the two of them have a really special bond throughout the book.

I could keep going on for ages about this book but I won’t, I really enjoyed it and although it took me a while to finish because of illness I kept wanting to reach out and read a few more chapters. The characters are absolutely lovely and the setting is just magical, I really hope that Susan takes us back to Wishing Tree again soon!!!
