Wow… wow wow wow This book wasn’t what I expected at all. To be fair I didn’t pay attention to the blurb, I was just ready for my next Darcy Coates book and knew there was a house, recent death, and a child inheriting it.
Let’s start with: this was a slow burn. I was quite impatient in the beginning lol and at one point even questioned just moving on to other books but I’m glad I didn’t. The unfolding of everything was executed very well. All the little pieces connected in a big way by the end and I loved that most about this book. It was artfully thought out and planned. It was definitely creepy and had me scared at moments too. Some things annoyed me a bit in the diction (and mc choices haha) but overall I very much enjoyed this book! The slow burn was actually a good choice, it laid everything out nicely.
