Was this better than A Heart So Fierce and Broken? Yes.
Did this book try to fix everything that was wrong in A Heart So Fierce and Broken? Also yes.
A Vow So Bold and Deadly tries its best to explain why Rhen and Harper were so out of character in the second book, which is unfortunate as it bogs down the first half of book. I still don't understand why we didn't get their perspectives in the sequel. Lia Mara's POV was so pointless. In fact, her whole character is so pointless. She's supposed to be a queen, but she cries over everything and can't make any decisions without Grey.
Another issue I have with this series: Grey and Lia Mara's relationship. It doesn't make sense! How does Grey fall in love with her? Why does he fall in love with her? Somebody explain this to me.
