O Caledonia by Elspeth Barker
4.0
The language is stylish and evocative. I can feel the coldness, beauty, and harshness of the nature in Scotland's landscapes. The author establishes Janet's character not only through what she does, but also through her interactions with nature and animals, emphasizing both the beautiful and the ugly. Janet is a flawed character, but also one that readers can empathize with easily.
