Hawkeye Omnibus
by Jesse Hamm, Steve Lieber, Annie Wu, David Aja, Javier Pulido, Alan Davis, Francesco Francavilla, Matt Fraction
I don't like a lot of Big 2 series, but Matt Fraction's run of Hawkeye is a must-read if you’re even remotely interested in the Avengers. To put it kindly, Hawkeye in the MCU is a huge disappointment, and I wouldn’t care that much if he wasn’t so goddamn great in this comic. Here’s why you should read it:
1. It’s relatively short, only 22 issues. Super conducive to a comic book binge and not too expensive!
2. The art is absolutely phenomenal. I mean just look at it!!
3. It’s so funny it’ll make you laugh out loud!!
4. But it also has low points that are so painfully relatable u might cry!!
5. Clint doesn’t have super powers and has to deal with the fact that he’s destroying his body by doing Avengers stuff, along with the fact that he is seriously depressed and lonely. He is also hard of hearing, and there are several issues where he talks to people using sign language, which is really innovative and cool.
6. Clint has a dog named Lucky who is such a good boy and I love him. There’s an issue that is told from his perspective and it’s HEART. BREAKING.
7. Kate Bishop is in it, who you may know from Young Avengers. She’s a salty millennial and Clint’s protege, and spends the run figuratively arm-wrestling Clint for the title of Hawkeye. She’s delightful and hilarious and if you don’t know her you should read this to meet her!
