Songs of Innocence by Richard Aleas

3.0

This book was strong at the beginning, weak in the middle, and very strong at the end. I hate to say this, but John Blake's tendencies to jump to conclusions based on weak evidence and little reasoning, combined with the weakly drawn "bad guys" Ardo and Miklos, made a good chunk of the book read like an R-rated Scooby Doo episode. The ending though, has the heft of Greek tragedy, and makes up for the weakness in the middle.
