The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern
5.0
When people have asked me what my favourite book is, I've never been able to say one book... however, I think I've found the one! I can't express how much I love The Starless Sea but I'll try.
This book for me is an entire metaphor of my reading experience. All the different chapters and the straight up magic found in every page reminds me of why I love reading so much. It carries me to different places without having to have a well thought out reason, just turn a corner and you're there. This is the first book where I have loved it so much that I paused after every few chapters. I found myself re-reading sections because of the beauty of Morgenstern's writing. The different chapter perspectives, and the stories within stories, and the diary entries, and everything else, kept me so entranced, and then when it all wound together at the end, it ended in the most perfect way.
If you're expecting a book with an intense romance or a high paced book full of big events, you will be dissapointed. What this book serves is atmosphere, nostalgia, and the reminder of how magical reading is.
