I am going to start with saying I hate being mean about books I didn’t like. I studied Creative Writing as a degree for university so I know how it can hurt for your work to be scrutinised. However, this just wasn’t it. I had a weird feeling as I started reading the book but put that down to maybe its just the characters personality. Yep, the characters personality was definitely the issue. The main character in this is awful and the type of person I avoid in my life. She was very much a narcissistic character who made decisions without consulting anyone around her and then got mad when they weren’t immediately on board?? Like other reviews the white saviourism in this is yikes and really wasn’t necessary. I don’t know if it was intentional but it was right there in your face the whole time. I would not recommend this book but I encourage the author to take on constructive criticism from this and to continue writing.
