Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli

4.0

This is not my perfect prom night, and it’s not the happy ending I pictured. It’s not an ending at all.

But it’s mine.

Expectedly, [b:Leah on the Offbeat|31180248|Leah on the Offbeat (Creekwood, #2)|Becky Albertalli|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1510886704s/31180248.jpg|51820754] was a sweet, funny and amazing book. I loved almost every second of it, especially all the dialogues and interactions between characters. I love how I actually feel that I'm hanging out with friends when reading an Becky Albertalli's book.

I loved this as much as I loved [b:Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda|19547856|Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (Creekwood, #1)|Becky Albertalli|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1402915678s/19547856.jpg|27679579], maybe just a little bit more because Leah Burke is a so much more relatable character for me. The relationship she had with her mom, friends and everyone else felt realistic and, most importantly, full of lessons and development. (I also loved the bits we got of Simon and Bram!). Sometimes I felt like it was trying too much to be ~nerdy, but it balanced well. Another thing I couldn't let pass were the loose ends—when we got to the ending some things ended up very rushed, and some few more didn't even had a conclusion or just got mentioned briefly in the last pages.

I don't want to talk about Leah's crush because it would be a little too spoilery, but I'm just going to say: applause. It wasn't perfect, but that was an important part of it. It was sweet and incredible and real: it was an amazing love story.
