I did not go into this book in the best frame of mind: I had too many books on the go; I was recovering from a dental procedure; I wasn't sure I was ready to concentrate enough to start a new book… but book club was a week away, so I gave it a try. After all, if I didn't finish, it wouldn't be the end of the world.
But then I started reading and started getting to know Jones and Elsie and Bentley and I enjoyed them so much! I was excited to pick the book up and find out what would happen next. I would get to the end of the time I'd set aside for reading and not want to put the book down!
I enjoyed it so much I didn't even deduct anything from my rating for the author making readers sign up for her mailing list to read the second epilogue! (If I had deducted a partial star for that, I probably couldn't have convinced myself to knock off more than a quarter of a star, though!)
