First Drop of Crimson
by Jeaniene Frost
4.5 stars
I really enjoyed Denise and Spade's book. It was interesting to see the Night Huntress world from a different perspective.
Due to reading Night Huntress #5 before reading 'First Drop of Crimson' I already knew a lot of what was going to happen in the book, but I was glad to finally connect the dots a bit (aka. Discover how relationships started, how events unfolded).
I liked that there was still sort of a pattern. Despite being different people. Spade was still a British-convict-turned-vampire, and Denise was another young American woman thrown into the supernatural world against her will. But the characters are unique that you could never mistake them for Bones and Cat.
I was surprised with how much I loved Ian in this book. He was just so funny, it was hard to dislike him. I haven't hated him in the other Night Huntress books, but he was never one of my favourite characters, but I definitely see him in a different light now.
I liked seeing Cat use her special vampire powers again, except I would have liked to be in her head, experiencing what she felt.
Overall a fabulous book. Love everything Night Huntress.
