I really loved this look behind the veil. I’m so happy we got a novella from this perspective (Hail, Marissa, Catalina, Azriel, and Darius) and get to understand how the system works, but also getting to see them support their loved ones. It was so bittersweet to see them doing what they could from beyond to help their family and try to get understanding to them that could help with the war. Plus, we got Darius meeting the Vega parents (the Hail moments were so funny), seeing his mom, and more Azriel moments. This seemed more calming and insightful, especially with the tandem read.
