The Sun and Its Shade by Piper C.J.
5.0

Genuinely, just wow. As much as I enjoyed The Night and its Moon, I was completely captivated by The Sun and its Shade.

Nox has captured my whole heart. I adored seeing the dynamic between her, Malik, and Ash grow, and as someone who's often felt like I can depend on no one but myself, watching her learn to let others in and let others take care for her was so impactful.
"Does it help if I feel safe with you?"

Without giving too much of the plot away, her storyline was hands down my most favorite part of this book, and I cannot wait to see what path she goes down. I could feel her anger at the end of the book, and I selfishly hope she shows no mercy towards anyone who has wronged her.

Meanwhile, the tension building between Amaris and Gadriel as they try to piece together the origins the curse the queen has placed on visitors from the North continues to build, and Amaris is left trying to sort between her conflicting feelings towards the general.
"Just jump?"
"Jump, and trust that I will catch you."

I genuinely cannot wait for the Gloom to come out in July to continue to see how these relationships come to work together, and how Nox continues to fight for Amaris against all odds. I love this world that Piper has created and can't wait to spend more time here
