The Shooting Star
by Hergé
The first of what I would call the psychedelic Tintin episodes. As the series progresses through history, Hergé began to drift away from straight adventure/detective fiction toward psychic/sci-fi exploration. This story starts as a sort of race-to-the-pole, arctic exploration story which is bookended by sci-fi elements that feel a little surreal. I don't dislike these stories, but I prefer Tintin on the trail of gangsters to Tintin in the end times.
