Trying hard to rate it as I would have ten years ago. I find the plot good, the action tense/fun and the magic enjoyable; the problem is the juvenile characters. I understand that it's a YA book and so much of the characters are teens, but even the adults/immortals feel immature at times. The main "conflict" I am over (and I feel like I would have still gotten tired of at 18) is the back and forth between Jace and Clary and Clarys internal monolog about it. HOW MANY TIMES DOES HE HAVE TO TELL YOU HE DOESNT FEEL COMPLETE WITHOUT YOU FOR YOU TO STOP BEING SO FRIGGIN INSECURE? If she questions their love one more time I'm going to spill my coffee on these three books. I mean, the boy couldn't even stay away from her when he thought they were siblings, I don't think you could SEND him away. Okay. Now that I got that out of the way.
I think the Simon love triangle was drawn out and Jordan comes on too strong after but the rest of his story is really intriguing. The entire exchange between him and the angel was the best part of the book imo. Anyways. It's fine other than the whiny teens 😝
