Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot by Mikki Kendall

informative reflective medium-paced

5.0

I just finished this book not even 5 minutes ago and it was FABULOUS! Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot talks about issues that the mainstream (white) feminist movement fails to discuss: the housing crisis, colourism, LGTBQIA+ rights, education, food security, and many more. I truly enjoyed how intersectional the book was. It didn’t just talk about black women, but BIPOC women, trans women and non-binary folks, disabled women, and everyone that feels left out by the feminist movement. Kendall explains everything very well, while also talking about her person life as a black women. If you are a feminist, you definitely need to read this book. I can not recommend it more!
