The Dialectic of Sex: The Case for Feminist Revolution by Shulamith Firestone

Still just as radical today as the day it came out. Some of the direct analogies to Freud I don't take that seriously, but overall it's one of those books that has changed hoe I view myself and the world. The section on children should be taught in every school. And it seems to really get at the root of the patriarchy within myself and society at large. I appreciate that it also focuses on the self, on how any radical emancipation movement has to free you, you are not a player outside of the system.

It is a bit old, so it's interesting to see how queer theory has come to serve as a way forward for some of its critiques. I want to learn more about that path.
