It took me a little while to get into this but once we met Athena, things got way more interesting. I was frustrated with the way Lore danced around telling the readers things but that just made me eager to discover what was really going on. I really loved Lore as a main character and appreciated her determination to survive, her protective instincts, her fury. The friendships in this book played as big a role as the romantic subplot and I really enjoyed that. The side characters were important, Blooded or Unblooded, and they all had personalities and motives, all moving beyond Lore as well as with her. I adore that. I halfway figured out Castor's secret through the story, but I still got a surprise with the true reveal, which was awesome. The twists, the horror of the betrayal, Lore's big end fight(s), and Athena's Choice-- all of it was so interesting and entertaining. Hermes's story surprised me in a good way, too. I loved Iro, who still cared about Lore so much despite the brainwashing of her House. I will probably reread this one soon, I loved the adventure and the action, and Lore's ferocity.
