I have some gripes about one of the siblings (which I'll rant about briefly in a spoiler soon) and I did see the identity of the murderer coming less than halfway into the book. Sometimes guessing the murderer is a good thing, because it means the book had clues that made sense, but with this story I felt that there were too few options and only one decent possibility, so it was a matter of it being too easy to assume what was happening and having nothing concrete to make you doubt these assumptions.
Beth is so annoying and I despise the way she talks about addiction. I work in a substance abuse treatment center (not for methadone) and the language the author used disgusted me. It made Beth completely unlikable. I've loved an addict romantically and I've had family members that are former addicts. Her character was despicable and so outlandishly monstrous that it was difficult to imagine this person existing. Lucas deserves to be with someone better. Nicole is the only redeemable character.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this book to most, but I did enjoy the pace and the general plot. It's the characters that irk me. If you're new to thrillers, then this would be a good one to ease your way into the genre and also get that boost of dopamine from solving the case before the conclusion, but for people who are already familiar with the genre, I'd recommend passing on this.
