Candide by Voltaire

4.0

I am writing this review almost 5 months after reading the book, but here goes.

Candide is a book I went into biased. I had already heard and read about some of the ideas presented in it. And had fallen in love. So I wanted to read the whole book. And I did, and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

While the author's imagination and creativity deserve praise, what I loved even more is how the entire story uses absurdism to drive home very simple life truths with that much greater impact. As a story, it's very hooking and a joy to follow. The philosophy that it presents is something to be ingested and ruminated.
