Righteous by Joe Ide

3.0

Joe Ide's 2nd IQ novel has gotten some great reviews but it didn't do much for me. The first in the series was a fresh and inventive. This one is much less so. Like IQ there are two interweaving plots. Unlike IQ, one of the plots is nothing more than a out of the box thriller runaround. The other is an actual mystery but because of its confusing flashback structure and aimless plotting it's really just marking time until Isaiah solves it all in a absurd leap of reasoning in the last few pages. I hope Righteous is just the series going through growing pains. IQ was quite good and the series has potential.
