Little Men
by Louisa May Alcott
Little Women is one of my favorite books of all time, and when I came across this sequel at the library, I was thrilled—I had no idea that Alcott wrote any companion novels to Little Women. (And I was even happier that it was pretty much all about my favorite March sister, Jo!) Well, I took it home and read it and it was amazing.
I think I liked it for many of the same reasons I liked Little Women:
--The characters are human, and they have strong suits and weak suits, triumphs and failures, virtues and shortcomings
--The plot is pretty much a series of little escapades and incidents, with a few things tying it all together
--And the 'family' dynamic of the big bunch of characters is really fun to read about. Most of them aren't related to each other, since the setting is a big school for young boys run by Jo March, but they love each other all the same and act like brothers.
Now I have to read Jo's Boys, the third book in the series! Yay!
