2034: A Novel of the Next World War
by James Stavridis, Elliot Ackerman
We were recommended this by someone who said it had an interesting take on India’s potential role in a hypothetical conflict between the US and China. It was truly bad as a novel, but I persevered in the interest of the plot. The plot was just as awful. Completely unrealistic in terms of military capabilities (on all sides) and distressingly misleading about the entire concept of nuclear escalation, I felt that this was nothing more than an attempt to scare an American audience. (The author confirmed that intention in an interview at the end of the audiobook.)
