Even Tree Nymphs Get the Blues by Molly Harper

3.0

This is a novella and short audio book. There's a new person arriving to town. She's drawn here by the pull of the rift that she's felt for years and is now ready to settle here. Along with starting her dairy farm to create and open her own creamery. Everyone's excited to have GOOD ice cream in town!

This story is of Ingrid as she moves to town and tries to avoid the League employees as she doesn't trust them. But, there's one man who keeps popping up, Rob Aspern. He seems sincere but he works for the League...

I didn't feel the connection for Ingrid at first as she arrived in Mystic Bayou. I thought it was going to be hard as an outsider who's not big on interaction to have a shop...but the dragons do it. She had such a strong distrust of the League, and made me wonder about how things were going to work out. Then, I couldn't see how any relationships, friend or lover, was going to blossom for her.

Then at the second half of the book, things shifted. Events lead Ingrid to start to open up to people in friendships, and potentially more. They find their way through mishaps and misunderstandings. The people they are shine through true in those moments.

There's no smexy time in this novella. But it's a sweet start.
