Zombie books have plenty of potential in their subject matter, but have a tendency to be easily fumbled despite the rich opportunity. This is one of the fumbles. Female characters are overly simplified (overbearing wife, prostitute, et cetera) and essentially the only character who seems to matter in the narrative is the MC. It moves too fast, without any breathers, for the reader to truly get attached to the characters. Therefore, considering the implication is that we only care about Eddie ... well, Eddie by himself isn't really enough. He's not inherently compelling.
