An e-copy of the book has been provided by the author, Nicky Blue, in exchange for an honest review.

Samurai. Ninja. Alternate world. And an absolutely bonkers of a story!

There are plenty of things that went on with this book. I cannot even begin to comprehend how I am going to compress my entire thoughts on it.

The writing was simple—it flows really well making the book quite a simple read. The pacing of the story is relatively quick, taking into account that this is a short story; however, it did not take away the curiosity and excitement in the desire to learn what is going to happen next. Additionally, this book contains footnote. It was a curious addition for the novel and gave a unique feel towards the book.

I did not get any strong connections with any of the characters. I find them entertaining but it all ended there. The main character was a wee stuffy for my liking, the villains and the sub-characters weren’t given much information of. That took away so much from the book for me. The amount of characters injected in the story is far too many for the length of the book and it was a cost that hasn’t been paid.

In conclusion, I find this book enjoyable. It wasn’t unique in its overall aspect but it did serve its purpose as a humorous novel. Some parts of it were quite difficult to catch up on and I am strongly to blame for that part—with my lack of understanding towards British comic. If you’re looking for something ridiculous to read and make your mind think of how much more absurd a story can get… then this is the right read for you !
