I have about as many problems with this book as I do things that surprised me. The issues/critiques are what I expected, but I was impressed by the positive surprises I found in this book. If I am remaining positive, what I like most about this book is that elements of it feel quite timeless. Stephen and Philip, we have all ran into them and people like them were the exact same back then as they are now. Fuckboys are timeless, unfortunately. But, Maggie's messiness and internal struggle to care about herself and her wants/needs as much as others when she had never, even in childhood, been encouraged to do so. Overall, I quite liked it and it really picked up toward the end.
If someone ever makes a modern adaptation/retelling of this story yall will freak, trust.
