Anne's House of Dreams
by L.M. Montgomery
The fifth book of Anne of Green Gables series follows Anne’s story during her first years of marriage to Gilbert Blythe. after marriage, Gilbert rents a house in Prince Edward Island, so he can be close to his uncle, how is a doctor himself and wants to turn over his practice to his nephew. As usual, Anne makes friends as quickly as we all know. One of her fast friends, Leslie, is tough and doesn’t want to be friends with Anne at first place. But, with Anne’s wisdom and patience, they get along eventually. But then, things start to get bad. I won’t spoil it, but it’s tragic and Anne will never be the same again. She will always have a pain in her heart. The most good thing for Anne is that, at the end, she has a baby.
I was impressed by the way the writer handled Leslie’s family predicament problem. I also liked Owen and Cornelia a lot. Although I must say that Marilla and Diana bearly appears at all.
