Lord Foul's Bane by Stephen R. Donaldson

4.0

This was a tough one to complete. You can definitely tell that this novel bridges the gap between Tolkein-esque fantasy and modern day fantasy. The charcter of Thomas Convenant is NOT a nice guy. He is a whiner throughout. The world building is quite extensive and if you are not use to reading earlier fantasy then you will be lost. Also, if you can get past that "one scene" (everyone knows which scene I am referring to) you will be in for a treat. I did enjoy it but found myself bored at times with the "quest". Overall I give it a 3.5 to 4 star.
